Two 2-morning sessions, offered Tue/Thu & Wed/Fri
8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Children may be enrolled in one or both sessions if space permits.
Our toddler program is thoughtfully designed in keeping with the Montessori philosophy to encourage children to explore, learn, and grow in an atmosphere of respect, calm, and fun. We provide a rich array of sequenced materials and activities with plenty of space for children to move. In addition to guiding children to explore and learn, we also help them to develop social skills that demonstrate respect and kindness.
Here’s how our sessions are structured:
We begin every session by greeting each child warmly and individually inviting them to visit the “works” and activity areas.
During our initial free choice time, children choose activities that interest them and use Montessori materials to explore. They may work alone or with others.
Free choice time ends with a big clean up, when children hang their art work and put away the equipment.
Group rug time comes next, when we offer a variety of group activities, such as food tasting, singing, talking, yoga, dance, or other activities. Children are encouraged – but not forced – to participate.
Next, during snack time, children sit at tables while the teacher reads a story from a Big Book. At the end, children push in their chairs and put away garbage, compost, and snack bags. Adults bring them their clothing, if necessary, and children get dressed to play outside or go to the gym.
